Help Us Campaign Today For A Better Kenton County

“I believe that law enforcement experience matters, As a retired captain from the Kenton County Police and a licensed attorney, I bring a unique set of skills that qualify me to be your next sheriff.” -Larry Shelton-

A lifelong Kentucky resident, he is committed to faith and family. Larry and his wife have been married for 26 years and have raised two children.
Shelton believes that law enforcement experience matters. As a retired Captain from the Kenton County Police and a licensed attorney, he says he brings a unique set of skills that qualify him for the position.

Larry Shelton understands that protecting a community starts with protecting its families. As a faithful husband and devoted father of two young girls, he knows firsthand the importance of safety, trust, and strong values at home and in the community.
Experience isn’t just about years served, it’s about judgment, accountability, and knowing how decisions play out in the real world.
During my career, I’ve seen firsthand how law enforcement decisions affect families, victims, officers, and the broader community. I’ve also seen what happens when leadership is distant, reactive, or disconnected from day-to-day policing.
This campaign is not about politics or personalities; it’s about stewardship of an important office and preparing it for the challenges ahead. Kenton County deserves experienced, independent leadership focused on service, not self-interest.
During my career, I’ve seen firsthand how law enforcement decisions affect families, victims, officers, and the broader community.
I’ve also seen what happens when leadership is distant, reactive, or disconnected from day-to-day policing. That’s why I believe the Sheriff must be more than a figurehead; the Sheriff must be a working leader who understands both the badge and the law.
As a retired Police Captain and practicing attorney, I bring a unique perspective to the Sheriff’s Office. I know what deputies face on the street, and I understand the legal responsibilities that come with every arrest, policy, and use of authority. That balance matters, not just for public safety, but for protecting the integrity of the office and the people who serve in it.
My approach to leadership is simple: support deputies, enforce the law fairly, and operate with transparency and professionalism.
The Sheriff’s Office should be an organization the public trusts and deputies are proud to serve in.
Experience isn’t just about years served; it’s about judgment, accountability, and knowing how decisions play out in the real world. and the law.
